Breakfast buffet at the hotel. Check out. Last bit of sightseeing in Xian before we start our Yangtze River cruise.
Picked up by same driver and our guide Ambrosia. We're off to the
Muslim Quarter of Xian. Courtyards of ancient trees, ornate arches, and stone steles. The
Great Mosque is the center of life for the Muslim community-the descendants of the merchants that ferried their religion into China along the ancient Silk Road. Records show this mosque was built 742 AD during the Tang Dynasty. The mosque covers a total area of 13,000 square meter. It was built in the shape of a rectangle from the east to the west and is divided into 4 courtyards.. Lots of bustling stalls, great street food.

Then off to the airport for our flight to
Wuhan. We say goodbye to Ambrosia. Our flight boards at 12:10 pm. Didn't make note of who meets us at the airport. We get our luggage and have lunch at the Airport Silk Road Restaurant. A short drive gets us to our boat, the
M.S. Angel which will be our home for the next 4 nights. This ship can accommodate 150 passengers. We settle in our stateroom which is nice but nothing luxurious. The Yangtze River originates on the Tibetan Plateau-a distance of 3900 miles-before flowing into the East China Sea, near Shanghai. With over 700 tributaries the Yangtze River has been the lifeline and major commercial thoroughfare in China for years. We have dinner on the ship. We are assigned Table 6. In addition to the 7 of us we have Nadia and Muhammed Ali from Pakistan. We get our schedule for tomorrow.
