Wake up call 7:00 am. Buffet breakfast 7:30 am. A full schedule for today. It should be noted that we are doing an UPSTREAM cruise not downstream as printed on this page for day 3.
The ship enters the
Wu Gorge where softly layered peaks form a surreal backdrop as we sail through the rugged canyons. This gorge is celebrated for its 12 misty peaks and has been an inspiration for Chinese painters and poets.
We have a
shore excursion to Shennong Stream. We meet up in the lobby at 8:30 am. We leave our cabin key at the front desk. Linda will be our guide for this excursion. First we are in a motorized sampan. A picture is taken of our group which I buy later. As it gets more shallow men pull the boats by hand with ropes. We see ruins of the ancient plank road along the cliff face as well as coffins of the Ba people suspended from the cliffs above. The contrasting heights of these gorges and the narrowness of the river make this area one of the most dramatic scenes in the world.

Back on the ship we continue to sail through the

Last we continue into
Qutang Gorge, the shortest and narrowest. Also this afternoon there are demonstrations of painting, calligraphy, and Chinese embroidery. You could sign up for foot reflexology. I did buy one of the paintings and ended up giving it to my step daughter. Wish I had taken some pictures as the paintings were lovely. Dinner.
